Product Description

D-fend Your Health!

Vitamin D actually functions as a hormone not a vitamin. The body produces its own vitamin D when the skin absorbs light from the sun, whereas vitamins are nutrients that must be obtained through diet or supplements and cannot be synthesized by the body itself.

Studies have proven that your body will produce sufficient amounts of vitamin D when your bare skin is exposed to sunlight for 5-10 minutes a day 2-3 times a week. Unfortunately, Vitamin D has a half-life of only two weeks; therefore, reserves can run low – especially in winter. Recent research has found that 50% of adults and children are deficient in vitamin D.

A deficiency in Vitamin D is common, especially in the elderly, infants, people with darker skin and people who live at higher latitudes or who get little sun exposure. Obtaining sufficient vitamin D from natural food sources and sun exposure alone can be difficult, we recommend supplementing with vitamin D to meet daily needs.

It is important for optimal bone, cardiovascular, neuromuscular, and immune health.  Studies show that proper amounts of calcium and vitamin D along with a balanced diet based on whole plant foods, may reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

Benefits of Vitamin D:
